Empowering Women’s Sexual Health and Happiness
For Women
At Dr. Sex, women’s sexual wellness is one of our core specialties. We recognize that a woman’s sexual health is influenced by a delicate interplay of hormones, life stages, emotions, and cultural expectations. Our goal is to provide a warm, supportive environment where you can address any intimate concerns – or simply work on enhancing your pleasure – with experts who truly understand women’s health. Whether you’re a young adult, a new mom, in midlife, or enjoying your golden years, we tailor our approach to your story.
Understanding & Caring for Women’s Needs
From menarche to menopause and beyond, women experience unique changes that can affect sexuality. Painful periods, childbirth, menopause, and even societal pressures can all play a role. We take all these factors into account. When you come to Dr. Sex as a female client, here’s what you can expect:
Compassionate Female-Health Experts:
Our team includes female doctors (like gynecologists), nurse practitioners, and pelvic floor physiotherapists who specialize in women’s sexual health. Many of our staff are women themselves, who approach your concerns with empathy and zero judgment. We understand that topics like pain during sex or loss of desire can be hard to talk about – we make sure you feel heard and validated.
Holistic Gynecological Care:
We don’t replace your regular OB/GYN, but we complement that care by focusing on the sexual wellness aspects. We’ll review factors such as your menstrual health, menopausal status, birth control, pregnancies, etc., because they all impact sexual function. For example, if birth control pills are dampening your libido, we might discuss alternative methods or supplements to counteract that effect. If you’re post-menopausal with vaginal dryness, we can work alongside your gynecologist’s plan (like adding laser therapy to the estrogen cream you were given). It’s a team effort aimed at your comfort and satisfaction.
Safe Space for All Women:
We serve cisgender women, transgender women, and non-binary individuals with female anatomy – anyone who identifies with women’s sexual health needs. Every woman’s experience is unique, and we honor that. You can talk openly about issues such as orientation (we are LGBTQ+ friendly), past trauma, or cultural/religious factors affecting your intimacy. We adapt our guidance to respect your values and background.
Focus on Pleasure, Not Just “Problems”:
A big part of women’s sexual wellness is acknowledging that you deserve pleasure, not just the absence of pain or dysfunction. We’re here to help you enhance your enjoyment. Want to explore new ways to orgasm? Curious about incorporating a vibrator or a certain fantasy but feeling shy? In our education sessions or therapy, we cover these topics candidly. Our sex educators can teach you about the female anatomy in empowering ways – many women discover things about their own bodies they never learned before, opening doors to greater arousal and fulfillment.
Common Issues Women Bring to Dr. Sex
Every woman’s situation is personal, but here are some frequent concerns we successfully address (see our Conditions page for more detail on each):
Low libido can happen due to stress, hormones, or relationship strain. We’ll investigate and boost your desire through hormone checks, lifestyle tweaks, or counseling as needed.
Pain during sex (from dryness, tight muscles, or conditions like endometriosis) can be treated. We aim to make sex comfortable and enjoyable again with treatments like lubricating therapies, pelvic floor physio, or gentle dilator training to overcome pain reflexes.
We help women achieve orgasm by exploring both physical techniques and mental blocks. It could be as simple as suggesting a different type of stimulation or as involved as therapy to break anxiety. Either way, we have a high success rate helping women climax reliably.
Postpartum issues – reduced tightness, scar tissue, lowered libido due to fatigue – are completely normal. We offer specific postpartum recovery plans to restore muscle tone, address hormonal dips (did you know breastfeeding can cause temporary dryness due to low estrogen?), and help you and your partner reconnect intimately when you’re ready.
During perimenopause and menopause, declining estrogen can cause vaginal atrophy (thinning tissues), hot flashes that ruin the mood, and mood swings or sleep problems that indirectly kill libido. We tackle this on multiple fronts: hormonal support (traditional or natural), direct vaginal treatments (like laser or moisturizers), and lots of encouragement that your sex life is far from over. In fact, many of our post-menopausal clients find a new chapter of sexual freedom and satisfaction once we alleviate the physical symptoms.
                            Our Approach with Women
When you visit Dr. Sex as a woman, we start with a thorough consultation. We’ll talk about your medical history, do any needed examinations with your consent, and perhaps use some questionnaires to gauge things like your level of sexual distress or pelvic floor function.
Then, we create a plan with you. You’ll never be pressured into any treatment – we’ll suggest options, explain the pros and cons, and respect your decisions. Options might include:
